Does your church have a mobile app yet? What’s the hold up?
Read this article to see why churches all over the world are jumping on board
and getting a church app developed for their church specifically!
Technology advances every day. The opportunities created
each and every day are spectacular, and can be used in many ways. Church apps
all started with Apple and the idea to make it easier for any organization to
stay in touch with all their members or clients. Apps are being used for businesses
worldwide as they discover the ability to reach out and talk to all of their
clients, on a mass scale or even individually!
We saw this technology and the potential it had for
churches, no matter the size, and took action. Church apps provide the ability
to do things differently, and much more efficiently. The features, all
initially geared toward sales and business, have been re purposed and allow you
to stay in touch with your congregation like never before.
Features that include everything from direct and mass
contact to running events and raising awareness for them are every director’s
dream. You can now set up an event within the app, raise awareness for it by
sending out messages to everyone who has the app downloaded, at the same time,
and even have people check in as they show up to the event.
Push notifications are what you call that mass messaging
feature and it doesn't stop there. Everyone who has the app downloaded will get
the push notification. Or message, but what if you could be more selective?
Perhaps a small group or church events are among the only people you wish to
receive a message. No problem. With cool features like geo fencing, you can do
just that. A geo fence, while it sounds complicated and alien, is actually
quite simple. It’s a “fence” that you can put around anything that can be
anywhere, like a house for example, and any message you choose will only go to
people within that “fence.” We've seen it used in very creative ways, and we
see even more as churches catch on to what they can do with it.
Example: One of our churches created a geo fence around
their actual church on Sundays. What happens is members drive by, and if they
weren't planning on going, they get a chance to rethink it. It’s a gentle and
in discriminant way to make sure all members are reminded and even have a bit of
fun.
Check out what a church app is and what it could do for your
church today. If you are mobile and don’t have a set location it’s the answer
to staying in touch with people you minister to. If you have a church, I don’t
have to tell you there are easier ways of doing things!
